World Hope Forum Korea

Curated by Diana Kloster

We can start up from scratch and build new systems where social and common aspects outweigh the ego, where morals and values overrule shareholder profits, and where collaboration and cooperation prevail to give more people equal opportunities. We have no choice but to join forces and stand together. New pacts need to be forged between fibre farmers, yarn makers, textile industries and fashion houses, between raw material producers, independent designers and their craftspeople. Whole chains need to be integrated, stimulated by federal funds, finding a shared interest and income from this rebirth in business. The economy of hope has the potential to transform society from within.

World Hope Forum Book Club

a special Book Club edition of the World Hope Forum to celebrate our one-year anniversary!

Hosted by WHF Founders Lidewij Edelkoort & Philip Fimmano, with WHF Ambassador for the Netherlands, Petra Janssen. Live from our kitchen table at the Pink House by Social label, Take a peek into the kitchen, a place where people come together; to eat and talk, but also to retreat. An intimate setting where time stands still. The future of Social label lies in the democratisation of beauty, in simply ‘being’, and in surrounding ourselves with design with meaning. Social label believes that collaboration is the key to change, to a society built upon different pillars and designed around more social, fair and collective values — for a better human existence. Everybody deserves this. Design can play this transformative role by giving work and meaning to people’s lives, enabling disadvantaged people to participate in society.

XTANT 2021:Looking Back To Move Forward

Textiles are language. In the past humans used warp and weft before words existed.  Threads were used to express individuality, status, beliefs, communities and above all, diversity.This language was completely hijacked as a result of the industrial revolution. As the late Antonio Pasquali reminded us,

“the ability to communicate is inherent to the formation of society. And so, any modification or control of communications leads to a modification or control of society itself.”

WORLD HOPE FORUM NETHERLANDS

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24TH
10:30 - 16:00 (CET)

Hosted by Petra Jansen, founder of Social Label & WHF Ambassador, this first meeting of great spirits and inspiring speakers comes to us from the Netherlands. Staged during Dutch Design Week, the conference will address topics such as the climate crisis, inclusivity, waste management, co-operation, indigenous design, archeology as a source of inspiration, and the inclusion of the humanities in design. Multiple ideas about slowing down and scaling down; doing good for people and the planet alike.

@worldhopeforum

In concordance with the digital Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven we plan on launching the very first day of congress on Saturday 24th of October, organized in cooperation with our Dutcth Ambassador Petra Janssen, leader of the active Social Label.

In this first simple and straightforward encounter of great spirits and major testimonies we invite general audiences around the globe to join us and celebrate this launch. Although this is a slow and small-scale start we want to get going and gain momentum while we all share these ideas and tasks.

Many themes are on our horizon, such as climate, inclusivity, waste management, cooperation, indigenous design, archeology as a source of inspiration, and the humanities to be included in the way we design. Ideas about slowing down and scaling down, integrating people and planet in all we do.
